School
Dress Attire
Your
child will be ready for his/her first feis when Bella tells you it is
time to order the school costume.
GIRLS:
If
your child is a girl, the costume will be a dress and cape in our school
colors which are white, green and gold. This dress is ordered through
Molly Bennett in Colorado, and is custom made. Check first with Bella
to see if she has any used school dresses that you can buy. If there
are none, Bella will give you an order form which will have all the
necessary measurements that Molly needs. Please take this to a professional
seamstress to have the measurements taken. The cost of the dress is
approximately $400 so you want the correct measurements. Please do not
allow any room for growth; Molly will take this into consideration.
It
takes roughly 4-6 weeks once Molly receives the paperwork. Depending
on the time of year the dress is being ordered, it could take longer.
The
dress will come with a scrunchie to be worn in the hair.
DO
NOT PUT THE DRESS IN A WASHER/DRYER. Have a reputable drycleaners
clean it. Ask around for recommendations on where to take it to get
cleaned. It does not need to be cleaned after every feis. Remember that
every time the dress is cleaned, the color fades slightly. Make sure
you also have the cape dry cleaned as well.
The
best way to store the dress is lying flat (under a bed works well).
In
addition to the dress, your child will also be required to have the
following items:

A crocheted green collar available from Darla Murphey (661 296-5475).
This needs to be hand sewn on to the dress. Please do not wait until
last minute to order.

Two school brooches* available through Shamrock Imports in North Hollywood
(818 505-5221). Talk to Imelda, she will tell you which type you will
need. The larger brooch is pinned to the top of the cape at the top
seam of the left shoulder and the smaller brooch is pinned at the right
side of the cape to the right side of the waist. These are for decoration
only. You will need to secure the cape either by safety pins or snaps.
*
Green Kick pants* (dance briefs) are to be worn under the dress. Available
at dance stores. They should match the lining of the dress.
*
White "poodle socks".* Available at Shamrock Imports.
*
Braided Headband/Scrunchie. Available through Robin Stewart (661 296-3632).
*These
items are also available at the feis through venders.
BOYS:
The
boys costume consists of:

Shirt
* Long Pants
* Black Socks
